Not every month on the radar is about a single marque. This July we've paired two finds that,
between them, cover both halves of going racing: a car worth chasing a championship in, and the
transporter to get it there in style.
First, the car. The 1972 Lola T290 HU17 — nicknamed "Strong Coffee" — is a genuine two-litre
sports prototype from the golden era of the European 2-Litre Sportscar Championship, offered by
Machines with a Mission. It raced in period from 1972, and after restoration it went on to take
pole position at the 2002 Le Mans Classic. Its Cosworth BDG, freshly built by Geoff Richardson
Engineering, has 800 miles left before its next service — so it's ready to be driven, not just
admired.
Then, the rig. A brand-new Langendorf closed-box race trailer from RaceTrailer's marketplace
is the professional answer to moving a car like the Lola. Insulated body, lifting roof,
roughly 106m³ of loading volume, a 2500kg Dhollandia tail lift and BPW air suspension — it's
built for teams who treat the paddock as part of the show.
A prototype to race and a trailer to haul it: whether you're eyeing the summer historic calendar
or simply upgrading the transport, both of these are worth a closer look before they're gone.
